Most Indian startups launch in Bangalore. We launched in Srinagar — a city the gig economy ignored, where finding a verified electrician at 9pm in winter is genuinely hard.

If real-time service dispatch can work in the Kashmir Valley — with mountainous geography, harsh seasonal demand, and no existing infrastructure — it works anywhere in India. The hard cities forge the better software.

We are now expanding to the rest of India one city at a time, in the order of demand on the waitlist. Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune are next.

Dr. Fayyaz is a veterinarian by training. It is not the origin story you expect for a technology founder, and it was not the origin story he expected either.

The winter he returned to Srinagar to build a home for his family, he learned something a medical degree hadn’t prepared him for: in a valley full of extraordinarily skilled artisans, finding one who would show up, do the work, and charge the price they’d quoted was nearly impossible. The craft was intact. What had broken was the infrastructure of trust between the people who needed work done and the people who could do it.

He could have written a complaint letter. He chose to write software instead — through personal savings, long nights, code that didn’t compile for weeks, and the particular kind of self-doubt that comes with trying to build a technology company in a profession you weren’t trained in. HelpRush is what a thousand small failures in that direction eventually resolved into.

For the customer, it exists so hiring a pro no longer feels like a gamble. For the pro — the electrician in Rajbagh, the plumber in Pampore, the carpenter whose name deserves to be on a public profile — it exists so the work comes to them, in their name, without middlemen skimming the margin or the dignity.

His wife has been the quiet co-founder the cap table doesn’t show. Everything that arrived here did because she stayed through the years it didn’t look like anything was arriving at all.
